Asian ingredient find at Lidl: Vitasia Glass Noodles!

In this cook along, you'll see one quick and easy way to cook these glass noodles.

The Vitasia Glass Noodles from Lidl have 2 simple ingredients: amido de milho and amido de ervilha, that is corn starch and pea starch.

How to Cook Vitasia Glass Noodles

Cooking glass noodles is simple. They need to be rehydrated in boiling water. They don't need to be in a pot of actively boiling water like spaghetti, for example.

Instead, simply boil water and pour it over the noodles and allow them to sit for 6 minutes before draining.
I actually used an electric tea kettle. :)

Serving Vitasia Glass Noodles

Once you drain the noodles you can proceed to serve them however you originally intended!

In this case, I divided the noodles into two bowls as a base for a chicken curry made with Vitasia Thai Red Curry Paste. (See Thai Curry cook along here- coming soon!)

I most often enjoy Thai curry over rice. Having these glass noodles on hand from Lidl was a perfect way to mix things up a bit. I would rebuy!

Honestly, It's Not That Spicy - Lidl Vitasia Gochujang Paste Review

It seems to be Korean season at Lidl and I'm here for it! Besides trying Shin Red Korean Instant Ramen, we picked up this squeeze pouch of Gochujang paste.

This post is part of a series: June 2025 Lidl Grocery Store Finds • Americans in Portugal

Vitasia Korean Style Gochujang Paste

What is Gochujang?
Gochujang is a Korean fermented chili paste. It is a versatile ingredient that adds depth with its sweet-spicy, umami flavor, giving Korean flair to your cooking!

Most often you get Gochujang in a tub like this, but this squeeze pouch is actually easy to use so it's pretty convenient!

Here you can check out the nutrition facts and ingredients in Lidl Gochujang paste which looks to be primarily water, sugar, red chili pepper, fermented soy paste, garlic, wheat.

How to Use Gochujang Paste

I decided to use the Gochujang paste in a ground beef and vegetable stirfry mixed with some left over rice.

It was a simple, unimpressive operation - Just bought some ground beef at Lidl as well as their frozen asian vegetable mix and cooked them up in our stainless steel pan along with the bit of leftover white rice that was hanging out in the fridge.

Added some generous squeezes of the Gochujang paste to the mix and tossed into a bowl. I actually didn't find it too spicy so I added a little extra swirl in my bowl.

I enjoyed this little Korean culinary diversion. I think it's really fun that Lidl brings such a wide range of internationally inspired products throughout the year. So even if you can't travel, you can always travel through food. ;)

How to cook Vitasia Frozen Chicken Wings

You can cook these frozen chicken wings from Lidl in at least 3 ways. The package recommends the following:

  • Oven at 200C or 180C for convention - 30-35 minutes
  • Frying pan with oil for approximately 12 minutes
  • Deep fryer at 160C for approximately 5 minutes

We opted to do our own thing and use the air fryer.

How to cook frozen chicken wings in the air fryer

Can you cook frozen chicken wings in the air fryer?  Of course you can!

We just used the convection oven temperature recommendation of 180C (~350F) and started checking them after 15 minutes.

At that time we temped them using an instant read meat thermometer and flipped them over for a few more minutes.

How many chicken wings fit in an air fryer?

In our air fryer, 10 wings fit comfortably at a time.

Lidl Vitasia Asian Curry Chicken WIngs Review

For an easy midweek meal or late night snack, frozen wings can be a great choice to get some protein in. Making them in the air fryer is easy and healthier than deep frying.

Overall we thought these were good, but occasionally found 'weird bits' or broken bones which we didn't love.

The curry flavor is nice to shake things up a bit. 10 wings is a decent amount, but not quite enough for 2 people. Maybe I could have crammed some more in, but I wanted to leave room for the air to circulate and get some color and crisp.

Pro Tip: Cook one round of chicken wings in the air fryer, then after you plate them, toss a second round in. They'll be cooked right when you're wishing you had more! ;)

If you have never had a Mango Lassi before, what are you waiting for?!  Lidl is carrying ready to drink Lassis in two flavors - Mango and Pineapple-Coconut.

Mango in Portuguese is manga
Pineapple in Portuguese is ananás or abacaxi. Piña is Spanish for pineapple lol.
Coconut in Portuguese is Coco.

When you peel back the foil lid of the lassi containers you reveal a plastic seal with an opening to drink out of! This design worked great!

To recycle this package you remove the outer cardboard layer which is the label of this product and put it in the blue recycling bin, then you can put the plastic cup along with the foil lid in the yellow recycling bin which is for plastic and metal. :)

Vitasia Indian Style Lassi Review

We loved these Lassis! The flavor and texture were great on both, nice and creamy, and if you have never had a lassi before and don't plan to visit an Indian restaurant to order one, I think these are a solid introduction. Mango Lassi is very traditional and we did prefer it over the pineapple coconut edition.

Still, if you love Piña coladas you'll love the pineapple-coconut lassi too! The coconut flavor is prominent so you must love coconut to enjoy this beverage.

Lassis are a yogurt based beverage popular in India so if you're feeling exotic why not swing by your local  Lidl and see if you can still nab one of these delights?!

Vitasia Asia Style Gyoza Spicy Pork and Kimchi Filling - Lidl Review

Lidl Review: VITASIA ASIA STYLE GYOZA SPICY PORK AND KIMCHI FILLING

Carrying on from the Meat and Ginger Dim Sum Review, we also snagged these frozen Gyoza from Lidl.

Cooking Instructions: VITASIA ASIA STYLE GYOZA SPICY PORK AND KIMCHI FILLING

Okay so the package gave loads of ways to cook these gyoza, but I was looking for the most hands off version which for me was the oven option. The instructions were to put the sauce of your choice on the gyoza (I guess with a brush like this) and put them in the oven at 200 celsius for 15 minutes.

Btw, 200 C is approximately 400 degrees F.

Virar a meio do tempo.
  • Na panela: cozer o produto durante 3 minutos em água.

I really didn't have any sauce in mind so I just laid them in a single layer on a Nordic Ware quarter sheet tray and spritzed them with some spray oil and popped them in.

Which would you get?

Electric Dumpling Maker or Hand Press Dumpling Maker
While I didn't find the Kimchi flavor to be as pronounced as expected, overall I thought these were super tasty and I would definitely get them again. I believe the package had about 20 gyoza inside.

Between these Gyoza and the Dim Sum at Lidl, the Gyoza were the clear winner for us!

COST: 3.29 EURO

Vitasia Chinese Style Dim Sum With Meat And Ginger - Lidl Review

Lidl Review: Vitasia Chinese Style Dim Sum with Meat and Ginger

This week there were loads of interesting Asian foods in the local Lidl so we decided to try a few including this package of Dim Sum, frozen Gyoza, and Indian Lassi.

Cooking Instructions: VITASIA CHINESE STYLE DIM SUM WITH MEAT AND GINGER

You have 3 options
  • In a pan - cook with plenty of salted water for 4 minutes under low heat, turning them carefully. Drain and serve with the sauce of your choice.
  • In a steamer - Steam for 5-6 minutes, drain and serve with sauce of your choice.
  • In a frying pan - Fry the dim sum in hot oil for 1-2 minutes. Drain and serve with sauce to taste.

Tap the photo below for nutritional information of Lidl's Dim Sum.
Dim Sum Package
Ingredients List on Back of Dim Sum Package

We opted to prepare them via the first method and then I wanted to fry them off a bit after they were cooked with some toasted sesame oil. I quickly aborted that mission as they were sticking to the pan I was using (whoops, forgot to let it get back up to temp first - rookie move) and proceeded to plate.
Lidl Dim Sum Prepared
Dim Sum from Lidl Close Up

I really wasn't sure what molho (sauce) I would want with "meat and ginger" Dim Sum, so besides the toasted sesame oil, we had a splash of soy sauce.

What did you think of the Dim Sum we had the other night?
"They were mediocre, I guess."

How would you describe them?
"Soft, meaty - there was some sort of filling in there. I don't know what it was..."

I think that about sums it up.

No pun intended. Seriously. :p

Picture
Tramontina Pan
The filling was very smooth and processed and made for a lack of variety in texture imo. If you could deep fry these puppies maybe it would be better. I was impressed by how gingery they were, though.

For us, these were a pass. They were fine, it was an easy little snack after a midweek meeting, but nothing I would seek out again.

VITASIA CHINESE STYLE DIM SUM WITH MEAT AND GINGER Ingredients

The Dim Sum contained 60% filling which was a combination of beef and pork meat along with onion, carrot, rosemary, garlic, nutmeg, salt, and wine. The filling also contained potato, mozzarella cheese (what?!) .6% ginger, and pepper. The other 40% was the dough made of wheat flour and water.

Cost: 1.99 euro
