Royal Caribbean visits to Labadee are paused until 2026, but here's what the experience is like to get you jazzed for when the cruise line's private resort destination on Haiti's northern coast reopens: Labadee, Haiti Royal Caribbean Cruise ReviewWhat to do in labadee on A CruiseThere are plenty of free and paid activities for your day in Labadee. Water Sports and Beach Bungalows | Haiti ExcursionsArawak Water park | Haiti ExcursionsTrails | Free ACtivities in labadeeTrails unlock some exclusive vantage points around the island and introduce you to local flora. Beach Time | Free Activities in labadee, HaitiYou must spend some time on the beach and in the warm Caribbean waters. Beach chairs and umbrellas are free on Labadee! Souvenir Shopping in HaitiIf you are shopping for souvenirs you can shop with locals in a particular area or you can shop indoors in a less barter-y situation if you are more comfortabel with that. --> See Also: Souvenir Shopping in Labadee with Prices <-- Beautiful Views | Labadee Haiti Cruise PortAt Labadee, you are of course only scratching the surface, but it's a hint at how much beauty there is on this island. Let your eyes take in as many views like this as you can. Our visit didn't have the best weather, but it allowed us to see such a variety of cloud formations and moody skies which was a delight. Beach Bar Menu with Prices | Labadee, HaitiHow much are drinks at Labadee? If you have a beverage package with your Royal Caribbean cruise, your drinks while on Labadee are included! Without a drink package, you are looking at around $14 per cocktail and $7-8 for a single beer. An 18% gratuity will be added automatically and you'll have the option to add an additional tip, should you wish. LabadoozieA frozen tropical cocktail seems like the right choice for your day relaxing on a Caribbean island. The Labadoozie is a fruity rum-based cocktail. I was really excited to try this based on a lot of online buzz at "the one drink you must get on Labadee" but honestly I felt it was overrated and overpriced. What to eat in labadeeEven toward the end of the buffet hours, there were still plenty of fresh pineapple, canteloupe, and watermelon to go around. :) There are plenty of covered tables near the buffet locations so you can enjoy your meal with shelter from the rain or sun. Labadee Cruise Stop ReviewWaking up to this view is hard to be mad about, isn't it? We love when our Royal Caribbean Cruise stops at Labadee! You'll receive a colorful, cheery welcome from the art on the buildings to the performers playing music and dancing all over the island. If you want a chill day relaxing at the beach you can do it totally for free since beach chairs and umbrellas are included or you can upgrade to a private bungalow. There is a splash pad for younger kids and thrill seekers can check out the zipline or coaster. The sip and paint excursion on Labadee is also a great option for anyone who wants a combination of activity and souvenir - we talked to some ladies on our cruise who had a great time on that excursion! Até Já, LabadeeIt breaks our hearts to hear about ongoing civil unrest in Haiti and the struggles the people there are facing. Although Labadee is a secured area from the rest of the island and quite a distance from the dangerous areas, under an abundance of caution Royal Caribbean has had to pause stops here for a time. We hope the situation improves soon and the residents of Haiti can have some peace on their beautiful island. So for now we say até já, Labadee. See you soon. :) More Royal Caribbean Cruise Reviews:

When you're ready to give traditional Portuguese cuisine a try, consider Recanto do Ze when in Armacao de Pera, Algarve, Portugal.
Recanto do Zé - Portuguese Restaurant in Armação de Pera
Recanto do Ze has some great lunch specials "prato do dia" during the weekdays, but don't be afraid to stop in at dinner time for kind staff and delicious Portuguese food.
Prato do Dia
A typical prato do dia at Recanto do Zé includes a meat or fish main, a drink (including wine or beer), couvert (typically bread, olives etc), dessert, and a coffee for around 15 euro - clearly representing a great value for a quality meal!

Iberian Pork Secretos
I was floored when my plate came. The helping of pork was generous, well seasoned, and as tender as you'd expect a well-rendered fatty cut of pork to be.
In the word's of Levi "That's tenda!"
Pork secretos are like a "secret" because they are a hidden boneless cut from behind the shoulder.
This cut of is exclusive to Iberico pigs and it has incredible flavor because of the deep marbling combined with the lifestyle of the pigs - roaming around free range and filling up on tasty acorns.
Ahh.. now that's the life!
Along side the pork were the expected portuguese accompaniments - a simple salad with lettuce, onion, and tomatoes and a pile of french fries. :)
Francesinha
The Francesinha sandwich originated in Porto and it is a serious undertaking, as you can surely tell.
What is in a Francesinha?
Between layers of bread you will find almost every rich meat you can think of on a francesinha - ham, steak, sausage.
What is on top of a Francesinha?
Plenty of melted cheese and a fried egg adorn this sandwich, as well as a healthy ladle of piping hot beer-tomato sauce to keep everything sloppy enough to require silverware.
As if the hearty sandwich isn't enough, a side of fries is ready for you to mop up any leftover sauce - the Portuguese version of Italy's "fare la scarpetta" :)
Recanto do Zé Review
I really enjoyed my meal (that delicious black pork - porco preto) at Recanto do Ze. I hope to return for a prato do dia with friends some time.
The only bummer was that they did not accept credit cards despite their google listing indicating that they accepted them at the time we visited.
As a result, we had to do the awkward scramble to scrape together enough cash. So our pro tip would be to make sure you have cash on you ;)

Friday Fish and Chips
On Fridays at The Water Dog, a classic Fish and Chips meal is available - Friday's only guys, plan accordingly!
The fish is fresh and delicate, the batter crispy, and the peas mushy.. just how you like them...
Unless you don't, in which case non mushy, sweet peas could be an option, as shown below. :)
Wash it down with a refreshing Magner's Irish Cider, a Guiness, or a local Portuguese beer if you'd like!
The Waterdog Review
The Waterdog is an institution in Armacao de Pera which is always busy and beloved by tourists and residents alike.
Enjoy the sunshine, saltwater air, and sip a cold one with friends as you take advantage of ample outdoor seating.
Or perhaps you prefer sitting at the back of the pub, on the cushioned bench, enjoying the buzzing atmosphere and live music.

Embarkation Day on Celebrity Ascent | Celebrity Cruise Blog
There's a special thrill when you pull into the port and see your cruise ship in person on embarkation day.
This 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise on Celebrity Ascent departed from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In This Post:
Checking in at Port Everglades | Celebrity cruise Review Blog
We had already checked in for our cruise on the Celebrity App, but as you can imagine from this picture, checking in is an efficient process in this elegant cruise port terminal.
We were dropped off outside at 1pm, took the following pic at 1:04pm and were inside our room by 1:18pm!
When can you check in for a Celebrity Cruise?
You can check in for your Celebrity Cruise 45 days before embarkation using the Celebrity Cruises app or website.
Infinite Veranda | Celebrity Ascent Review
We spent the week in an infinite veranda stateroom 8280. This is a balcony cabin on Celebrity Ascent.
Lunch at Oceanview Cafe | Celebrity Ascent Review
I know cruise lines are trying to steer away from using the word buffet because of the negative connotation, but if you're wondering about the buffet on Celebrity Ascent called Oceanview Cafe, it's exceptional!
This asian stir-fry with chicken, beef, and mixed vegetables was a great start to the cruise!

SAIL AWAY from Port Everglades | Celebrity Cruise Blog
One of the best things about having a balcony on a cruise is being able to enjoy sailing away from each port.
We were treated to a lovely sunset and dramatic cloud formations as we sailed out of Fort Lauderdale cruise port.
A pastel Fort Lauderdale skyline bid us farewell and it was time to enjoy our first dinner in the Cosmopolitan Restaurant main dining room.
Cosmopolitan Restaurant Menu | Celebrity Ascent Review
There are 4 main dining rooms - Cosmopolitan, Tuscan, Cyprus and Normandie.
Each dining room has Exclusive Starters and Entrees as seen on the bottom left as well as featured cocktails. These stay the same every night.
On the right side of the menu are the Starters and Entrees that are the same in all of the restaurants, but change every night.
The Celebrity Classics are always available to you.
Cosmopolitan Main Dining Room | Celebrity Cruise Blog
Each of the 4 main dining rooms has their own style of decor and you will always be presented with a basket of freshly baked bread, rolls, and breadsticks along with a trio of butter and spreads for the bread.
There is always a whipped butter, but to keep things exciting each night you will have different spreads like roasted red pepper or garlic to try.
Your sommelier will come to your table for any wine or cocktail orders.
Cauliflower Flan | Celebrity Cruise Food Pics
This unique starter is available from the Cosmopolitan Exclusives menu on Celebrity Ascent. It was a feast for the eyes and really a delightful journey tasting my way through this work of art.

A light and flavorful consommé!
Classic "Caesar" Salad | CELEBRITY CRUISE FOOD PICS

I normally love a Caesar salad on a cruise, but found this one a bit heavy on the dressing though others in our party felt it was just right. :)

Roasted Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, Herb Compound Butter
Starting a cruise off with a steak dinner is never a bad move, is it?! =)

Beurre Maitre d'Hotel: Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables
This New York Sirloin Steak is available on the Celebrity Classics Menu every night.
COSMOPOLITAN Dessert MENU | CELEBRITY ASCENT REVIEW
Celebrity brings your dessert menu separately after your meal much like a traditional restaurant, whereas you'll remember from previous Royal Caribbean Blogs that they have one menu including desserts.
Carrot Cake Cosmopolitan | CELEBRITY Ascent FOOD PICS
The Carrot Cake is a Cosmopolitan Exclusive dessert on Celebrity Ascent.
The carrot cake was beautifully presented and delicious. I would love to recreate this carrot cake for Inspired by Travel.

Padrino's Cuban Restaurant Review With Photos
Traveling to Southern Florida provides one with ample opportunity to indulge in authentic Cuban cuisine!
Seeing as we already respected our Pittsburgh roots with a couple of trips to Primanti Bros, it was time to nod to my Cuban heritage with a visit to Padrino's.
Padrino's Cuban Cuisine is a family owned restaurant with a few locations in South Florida and has been rated Best Cuban Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale by Fort Lauderdale Magazine multiple years in a row!
Padrino's Menu
Padrino's serves up some of the most popular cuban dishes like a cubano (cuban sandwich), pan con bistec (palomilla steak sandwich), ropa vieja (shredded flank steak), lechon asado (slow roasted pork marinated in citrus mojo), arroz con pollo (yellow rice with chicken and chorizo) and paella (all your favorite seafood cooked with yellow rice).
Frijoles negros (black beans), maduros (sweet plantains), tostones (green plantains) and boiled yucca make for classic cuban side dishes.
For dessert try tres leches cake or cuban flan paired with a cafecito.
Padrino's drink menu
Looking for a cocktail? A classic Cuban Mojito will never steer you wrong!
Still, if you're planning a Cuban Night or Havana Nights Dinner Party, you can get some inspiration from some of these cocktails and menu entries!
PAdrino's Drink Specials
If I was local, I would be stopping in on Tuesdays for Mojitos or Thursdays for Sangria, how about you?
Fort Lauderdale Food Tours:
There's plenty of seating inside and if you're more of a booth person, Padrino's has you covered!
Enough decor, let's get to the grub.
Cubano - $13
Classic Cuban Sandwich of sliced ham, pork, swiss cheese, and pickles in a hot-pressed sandwich.
Ropa Vieja - $13
Flavorful shredded beef, slowly cooked with green peppers and onions in a light tomato-based sauce, served with white rice & black beans and sweet plantains.
PAella - $30
A combination of scallops, shrimp, mussels, flounder, chicken, and chorizo sausage cooked with a flavorful yellow rice. Served with sweet plantains.
Combinacion Cubana - $18
Fiesta tostones, croquetas de jamon, picadillo empanadas, mariquitas and black bean salsa.
Now let's break down every part of this delicious Cuban Sampler Platter!
Mariquitas
Crispy plantain chips served with fresh black bean salsa and garlic mojo.
Fiesta tostones + croquetas de jamon
In the foreground we have the croquetas de jamon - traditional ham croquettes.
In the background to the right with the glistening chunks of meat are the fiesta tostones. Pressed green plantains, topped with creole chicken or chorizo sausage, melted cheese and fresh pico de Gallo.
Picadillo Empanadas
Crispy pastry filled with perfectly seasoned ground beef, served with homemade guava chutney
Padrinos Review
As a media-cubana I can say I approve of Padrino's lol. Their food was great, beautifully presented and a solid representation of Cuban dishes I grew up loving along with some fun and modern twists.
I definitely recommend getting the 'cuban combination' platter as it is a great way to sample a variety of classic Cuban foods in one go.
This week's assignment: grab some friends on Thursday, split a 50% off carafe of sangria and nosh on some great Cuban Cuisine at Padrino's in Fort Lauderdale.
Dale! :)

Breakfast at Primanti's
If you're up early, stop in at Primanti's for Homestyle Breakfast from 8am to 10:45am every day.
Lunch at Primanti's
In our case, we stopped in for a lunch seasoned with nostalgia.
Primanti Sandwiches are famously topped with fresh-cut French fries and Cole slaw - a must try!
Primanti's Pitts-Burger - #2 Best Seller - $8.99
The number 2 best seller at Primanti's is the Pitts-burger.
It only seemed appropriate for literal Pittsburghers to order this sandwich.
And look at all the fries and cole slaw piled on there! :)
Primantis French Fries - $5.29
Almost Famous Chili with Italian Bread - $5.29
I got a bowl of chili on a whim and oh my was it delicious!
It was a thick chili, served with that fresh Italian bread. Comforting and delicious, an easy recommendation!
Primanti Brothers Receipt
There are not too many places that 5 adults can eat quality food for $48.73 total.
PSA: No Credit Cards!
Does Primanti Bros Ft Lauderdale take credit cards?
No. Primanti's is a cash only establishment. With prices like this.. we're okay with it! ;)
One Day In Fort Lauderdale:
Eating at Primanti's Twice in Two Days!
Primanti's was so tasty, reasonably priced, and conveniently located (We were staying at Gallery One Double Tree by Hilton - Photo Review Here • Check Current Prices Here) that we decided to come back the next night for pizza!
Here are some reasons Primanti's pizza is the best pizza in Fort Lauderdale Beach:
- Dough made fresh 24 hours a day
- "Home-Cooked" tomato sauce
- 100% Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese
- Hand-Tossed Pies
Primanti's Cheese Pizza - 14" $15.89 or 18" $18.89
Look how crisp that undercarriage looks!
Fort Lauderdale Beach Primanti's Menu
If you'd like to plan ahead so you can bring enough cash ;), here's the menu for Primanti' Brother's Pizza & Grill in Fort Lauderdale.
The phone number for Ft. Lauderdale Primanti's is 954-565-0605
Florida Primanti's Review
If you're a Steelers fan who finds yourself in ftl or anyone who spent their summers riding the Log Jammer at Kennywood growing up, you're going to get the warm and fuzzies at Primanti's.
If you're not from Pittsburgh and never heard of Primanti's then you'll be sure to love this no frills, affordable sandwich and pizza shop on Fort Lauderdale Beach. It's rare to find taste at this value in the area.
And if you're not typically a cole slaw fan - honestly neither am I - but you should still try it on your sandwich. It's not a mayonnaise-y slaw, so you may be surprised to find you like it more than you expect!
