Good To Know:

A great place for drinks (including the likes of fresh lemonade and vegan milkshakes), they have Happy Hour and live music sometimes.

What It's Like:

An Algarve ice cream brand serving up international favorites alongside very Portuguese flavors (ie Dom Rodrigo, Fig and Almond) with unbeatable views.

Good to know:

Plenty of indoor seating available if you need shelter from the sun or occasional rain drop. Bathrooms are down many stairs. Not ideal for those with mobility concerns.

What It's Like:

A classic Portuguese restaurant serving many traditional meals. Please try some Portuguese food during your Portugal trip!

What It's Like:

An extra tasty Chinese restaurant. Big reccos for chicken fried noodles (lo mein), dumplings, fried spring rolls, and the won ton soup.

Good To Know:

A smoky draft sometimes enters the restaurant due to the smoke from outdoor diners. If sensitive, choose a seat away tucked away from the door. Restaurant has a TV which often plays live football (soccer).

What it's Like:

Super cute cafe and roaster that doubles as an art gallery for local artists.

Homemade cookies and bakery treats at Kanuck Coffee in Armacao de Pera, Portugal

Good To Know:

Kanuck hosts a free weekly run group. They also take orders for small batch sourdough bread, delivered twice a week from Padaria Santa Isabel in Portimao.

They really do a lot to support the community locally so definitely check them out!

Flavorful Indian curries, friendly hospitality, a hop skip and a jump from Praia do Vale do Olival on Armacao de Pera's western coast.

The Mallowmelt cookie had a great, chewy texture. It is a very sweet cookie with the addition of some white chocolate chips.

The only disappointment was that the toasted marshmallow wasn't really baked into the cookie or offering a gooey texture. Ours literally rolled off the cookie lololol. Slight expectation vs reality mismatch.

Kanuck Coffee Roasters is a really cute cafe in Armacao de Pera. We love the way it supports local artists and every time you come for a visit you have new decor to admire (and even purchase for your home!) while enjoying a coffee and a treat.

The location is tucked in slightly from the main drag, but visitors and locals alike make their way to Kanuck to enjoy time alone or in good company.

Stop in if you have the chance! :)

Cadbury Roundie Review - The Wafer Of My Dreams

I've always loved Cadbury Chocolate. The eggs were a seasonal favorite (this kind and this kind), but the dairy milk chocolate bars, too, were deliciously creamy and dangerous.

When we were handed this bag of Cadbury Roundies I thought "Oh man. This is going to be good."

Spoiler Alert - I wasn't wrong.

This Cadbury Roundie travel exclusive bag came with 10 individually wrapped wafer cookies.

Each foil-wrapped wafer has a sticker on the bottom which reads:

"Cadbury Breakaway Milk Chocolate Biscuits. Wafers layered with cocoa filling covered in milk chocolate. Contains wheat, gluten, milk, soy. May contain egg, tree nuts, other cereals containing gluten."

Bearing that in mind, I suppose I can't recommend these to any food allergy buddies...

Inside the Cadbury Roundie

The Cadbury Roundie features light and crunchy wafers with chocolate in between each layer. Classic Cadbury dairy milk chocolate surrounds this delightful disc. It feels like a special treat eating these as they are individually wrapped and decadent. One is the perfect amount.

Thought these were delicious. If you like Cadbury Chocolate and you like wafers, you will love Cadbury Roundies!

You know when you go through your pantry and realize you have had something forever and need to use it up? Yeah... well, that's what happened with this Lidl cookie mix.

Belbake Rainbow Chocolate Cookies Baking Mix

In America baking aisles go on for almost an eternity with mixes for cakes, cookies, brownies, breads, and all manner of goodies. You have store brands, classics like Betty Crocker, premium baking mixes like Ghirardelli, speciality gluten free, allergen free cookie mixes and the list goes on..

In Portugal it's not quite like that and local pastelarias don't generally have great cookies. I grabbed this chocolate cookie mix with (knock off) m&ms for some day when I wanted cookies but didn't have the time to bother making them from scratch.

Rainbow Chocolate Cookie Baking Mix | Lidl Portugal

Based on most cookies I've had here, which are usually dry probably due to over baking combined with a lack of enough fat, my expectations were not super high and that's probably why it took me so long to make them.

Belbake Rainbow CHocolate COokie Mix Ingredients, Nutrition Facts, and Baking Instructions

The preparation and baking instructions are buried at the bottom of each language's ingredient list.

How to bake Belbake Rainbow Chocolate Cookies:

Simply add 30g of butter and 1.5 soup spoons of water (lol)
Bake for approximately 10 minutes at 180C or 160C for convention ovens.

Lidl Rainbow Chocolate Cookies Before Baking:

The cookie mix made a perfect quarter sheet tray of half a dozen cookies.

I used a cookie scoop to divide the dough and rounded the dough between my palms before placing the unbaked cookie dough on a sprayed cookie sheet.

About 10 minutes later I had an adorable perfect-for-two batch of 6 cookies!

The Best Baking Sheets

Belbake Rainbow Chocolate COokie Baking Mix Review:

From low expectations to elation, these cookies were actually delicious! If you're careful not to over bake them, you will have a delightfully fudgy, soft cookie with a gentle crisp where it rested against the baking sheet. The rainbow candy pieces will make you smile like a kid. :)

We ate these so fast that I didn't even take any more pictures and I had to declare them dangerous to have on hand at all times. :p

These are easy cookies to make and enjoy. If you see the mix at Lidl Portugal, go ahead and grab a bag!
